The Lough in Cork city is always teeming with migrating birds in winter . It is like an overflowing air terminal. I wonder how many years the same birds return there . It is a tradition that people feed them – almost every Cork person remembers childhood trips to feed the ducks, geese and swans. The result is that the birds are very tame and walk right up to you for food. This female Canada goose was very excited to see me rooting around in my bag, but was disappointed that all I produced was my pastels and paper. She soon waddled off so I had to catch this sketch quickly while she was still interested and hopeful.
